Watering Volunteers Needed
As much as I like to think I can be in three places at once, regrettably, I cannot. Now that over 70% of the garden area has been planted, it has been challenging to make sure each plot’s moisture needs are met. Cue volunteers!
We are excited to FINALLY announce that we will be accepting volunteers for watering duty at all three gardens beginning this week. Since this activity can be done by individuals on their own, this is a perfect way to get involved while continuing to stay safe. Please reply to this email with your availability and we will schedule a garden tour with you.
Finch Garden Fence Funding

Unfortunately, due to budget restrictions imposed upon Spokane City Parks in the current climate, the fence that was slated for installation this month has been cancelled.
The safety and protection of our work, and the harvests to come weighs heavily on our minds. During this time of uncertainty for many, we worry about theft and vandalism increasing. There are both positive and negative aspects of having a garden in such a public place. We love the prominence our garden has at the Arboretum for local visitors and plant enthusiasts. We enjoy being available to answer questions while working, and having the opportunity to educate the community about our project has been a wonderful gift. However, this season, we have already experienced planting beds being trampled upon and we have increasing concerns for the safety of the garden long term.
We are requesting community help to raise funds for installing a protective fence this month. The total cost of supplies is $655. This will allow us to enclose the garden with attractive posts and four foot livestock fencing that will also double as climbing space for our wanderlust veggies like cucumbers, pole beans and squash. The fencing will be beautiful, functional and budget friendly.
We would be honored if each of you could help us reach this fundraising goal. Please consider donating a gift card by following the links below and forwarding this email to your friends and family.
All supplies are available locally at North 40. Online gift cards can be purchase by following the link HERE. Gift cards should be mailed to Community Garden Alliance, P.O. Box 759, Spokane, WA 99210.
